Frequently asked questions
What can I expect during my first session?
During your first session, we’ll spend some time getting to know each other! I’ll ask about your current concerns, your background, and what you hope to achieve in therapy. This helps me understand your needs so we can create a plan together. It’s a chance for you to ask any questions about the process too!
How long is each therapy session?
Each individual session typically lasts 53 minutes and each group session typically lasts 75 min. We’ll work together to make the most of that time, focusing on your goals and concerns.
How many therapy sessions will I need?
The number of sessions varies depending on your individual needs and goals. Some people benefit from just a few sessions, while others may want longer-term support. We’ll regularly assess your progress and adjust the plan as needed.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes! The following insurances are accepted:
Anthem BCBS
Oxford (Optum)
Oscar (Optum)
United Healthcare (Optum)
Carefirst BCBS
Quest Behavioral Health
BCBS of Massachusetts
Cigna
Aetna
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or facing life challenges, therapy can be a helpful space to explore your thoughts and feelings. It’s normal to feel unsure at first, but taking that first step can bring new insights and support. If you’re ever uncertain, we can discuss whether therapy is the right fit for your current needs.
What should I do if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Life happens! If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please let me know at least 24 hours in advance to avoid being charged a $75 fee. This allows me to offer your spot to someone else who may need it.
Will my sessions be confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is a top priority! What we discuss in sessions stays between us, with a few important exceptions. I’ll review the confidentiality policy with you at the beginning of our work together.
How do I prepare for therapy?
No need to worry about “preparing” for therapy. Come exactly as you are! Just bring your thoughts, feelings, and any questions you may have. It’s helpful to reflect on what brought you to therapy and what you hope to achieve, but there’s no right or wrong way to start.
What types of therapy approaches do you use?
I offer a variety of therapeutic approaches tailored to your needs, including (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Feminist and Trauma-Informed Care, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Internal Family Systems therapy and Person- Centered Therapy). We’ll work together to find the best approach for you!
